Testing unmanned trucks in Russia could begin before the end of November on the highway M-11, interest in the project showed GAZ, KAMAZ, Skania, AVTOVAZ, Volvo and other companies, said in an interview with RIA Novosti President of the NP «GLONASS», head of the working group of the National technology initiative «Avtonet» Alexander Gurko.

According to him, by results of session of Presidium of Council under RF President on economy modernization and innovative development of Russia chaired by Dmitry Medvedev to the Federal road Agency and the state company «Avtodor» was instructed to begin testing the technologies and infrastructure for the movement of unmanned, connected and electric vehicles until 30 November 2018.

«It is expected to start piloting highly automated trucks on the highway M-11 in Vyshniy Volochek bypass. This project has a very high potential», — said Gurko.

«Testing of unmanned vehicles on the highway M-11 showed the interest of many manufacturers: GAZ, KAMAZ, Skania, AVTOVAZ, Volvo, Sollers, Huawei and other suppliers of avionics. I hope that the Ministry of transport will assist in the implementation of the orders of the President of the government,» he added.
