General staff of the Armed forces of Ukraine worked scenarios and issues of cooperation between the commanders in case of aggravation of the situation in the South of the country, said on Thursday the chief of the General staff of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko.

«In the course of work with the commanders in the South of Ukraine has worked on the issues of modelling and collaboration in case of aggravation of the situation», — he wrote on the page in Facebook.

The situation of navigation in the Azov sea has escalated in the beginning of the year. In March Ukraine detained the Russian trawler «Nord», put forward against its captain charged with illegal visit to Crimea «with the aim of causing harm to the state interests». In August in the port of Kherson detained the tanker «Mekhanik Pogodin».

Russian authorities found the actions of the Kiev «sea terrorism» and responded by increasing border inspections in his part of the Azov sea. Then the Ukrainian border guards said that the Russians «have begun a strict policy of detention and inspection of ships». While the Crimean border guard of FSB of Russia stated that it conducts audits in accordance with international law of the sea and had not received complaints from shipowners, and the Ukrainian foreign Ministry admitted that Russian border guards do not violate the protocols during the inspection. Later Kiev announced its intention to increase its military presence in the Azov sea and create a naval base.
