Ukraine and Belarus signed a number of cooperation agreements, including the agreement on readmission, reported on Friday a press-service of administration of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

Poroshenko and Lukashenko held a bilateral meeting in the Belarusian Gomel, where the Ukrainian President arrived in the framework of the first Forum of regions of Ukraine and Belarus.

«In the presence of heads of two States signed the agreement between Ukraine and Belarus on readmission, which aims to create a legal framework necessary for the establishment and development of interstate cooperation in the sphere of readmission agreements», — stated in the message.

According to authorities, the agreement will allow to minimize the negative consequences that arise from illegal migration and to improve the effectiveness of joint combat.

However, the foreign Minister of Ukraine and Belarus signed the plan of consultations between the diplomatic authorities in 2018-2019.

In addition, the Minister of sport of the two countries signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of culture and sport.
