LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky believes that the Russians would support the return of the death penalty in the country if a referendum was held on this topic.

«Unfortunately, «for», — said Zhirinovsky TV channel «Russia 24» on Friday, responding to a question about how would vote the majority of Russians, in the case of the referendum on the abolition of the ban on the death penalty.

«It’s the aggressive nature of our people, we love to arrest, hang, shoot» — he explained his position.

Thus the leader of LDPR considers that the return of the death penalty will not reduce crime, and this, according to him, is confirmed by world practice.

«It’s too late to restore the death penalty — murder commit suicide: they commit crimes themselves and commit suicide,» — said Zhirinovsky, citing as an example the tragic events in the Kerch College where shot people the student, as the politician believes, was «to spit, have the death penalty» or not — «he was going to die.»

A fourth-year student Vladislav Roslyakov 17 Oct opened fire and detonated a bomb in the Kerch Polytechnic College. According to recent reports, killed 21 people, including 16 students and five employees of the College. Injured more than 50 people. A criminal case was initiated under article «terrorist act», later it was changed to an article about the murder of two and more persons publicly dangerous method. Roslyakov killed himself in the College library.
