The head of the HRC Mikhail Fedotov has reviewed video of the detention center «Lefortovo», where inmates allegedly attacked the arrested former head of the Serpukhov area of Moscow suburbs Alexander Shestun, and noted that the records can only distinguish between a verbal argument, according to the website of the HRC.

Spouse Shestun previously told some media that he tried to attack the inmate. The Federal penitentiary service denied reports of the attack.

«Of these videos I can conclude that as such there was no assault, but the threat will very likely were. There are signs that actually took place suddenly flashed conflict between Alexander Shestun and his cellmate. Judging from what can be discerned on the records, this was the result of a verbal altercation with foul language» — the words quoted Fedotov in a statement.

He noted that the information that the cellmate attacked Shestun with a knife or sharpened spoon videos not confirmed, but «the signs of the crime are such that their investigation should be addressed by law enforcement agencies».

Fedotov also said that to meet the very Shestun, he failed because the prison authorities refused him, citing the need to obtain the permission of the investigator.

«In this regard, the question naturally arises as to how, in such circumstances, members of the Council now to visit detention centers, where we usually talk to dozens of prisoners? We’re not on a date to go to jail, and to collect information on the situation of human rights», — said Fedotov.

SK the Russian Federation earlier filed a case against Shestun upon excess of powers of office with causing of heavy consequences. According to investigators, Shestun in 2008-2014 wrongly transferred the property to a private company four plots of land. Damage to the budget, according to investigators, amounted to 62,8 million roubles. Under the charges, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

Shestun guilt does not recognize, believes that its criminal prosecution is connected with the election and his intention to be re-elected head of the district. And sold the plots, he said, used as intended — they are three large shopping centres and other facilities used by the residents. He also called the names of senior officials who, according to him, involved in his criminal prosecution.
