Police detained two people during a fight at one of the polling stations in Marneuli (Kakheti region) on the day of elections of the President of the country, reads the statement of the interior Ministry.

According to authorities, between members of the opposition party «National movement» and the ruling «Georgian dream» there was a verbal altercation that escalated into a fight.

«Two people were detained for administrative offenses. In fact (fighting — ed.) an investigation under article 162 of the criminal code (beating or other violence in the territory adjacent to the place of voting — ed.)», — reads the statement of the interior Ministry.

Sunday in Georgia elections of the President, who is elected for a term of six years. This last election by direct vote, 2023, the head of state will choose not the people, and 300 delegates. Just for this position 25 candidates, including two main competitors: EC-FM, an independent candidate and the favorite of the ruling party «Georgian dream» Salome Zurabishvili and the candidate from the United opposition «Strength is in unity», the former ally of ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili, Vashadze.
