Opening of Wall of memory and the act of remembrance of the victims of repressions took place in new Moscow, in the former the sensitive sites of the NKVD of the USSR «Kommunarka», the correspondent of RIA Novosti.

Among the participants of the event were the Chairman of the HRC Mikhail Fedotov, the rector of the Church of the Holy new Martyrs and Confessors of Russia in Kommunarka hieromonk Ermogen, Chairman of the Board of the International Memorial’s Yan Rachinsky, Director of the Museum of Gulag history Roman Romanov, as well as children and grandchildren of the executed, members of the public and human rights organizations.

«Dear friends, finally we will be able to see this Wall of memory will be able to open it, you will be able to see the names of those who rest here in this land,» — said Fedotov audience.

Ex-sensitive sites of the NKVD of the USSR «Kommunarka» is one of five known mass graves of people shot in Moscow. On September 2, 1937 November 24, 1941 on the territory of «Kommunarka» was buried 6609. Their names are revealed after firing acts in the Central archive of the FSB, placed on the memorial Wall.

Until the end of the Soviet regime «Kommunarka» was protected sensitive sites security organs. The existence of burial here became known only in 1991. The firing area of the landfill «Kommunarka» only in the spring of 1999 transferred from the FSB to the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Church.
