USA gave Russia a list of questions on the implementation of the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range and shorter-range, making it a few days before the announcement of the intention to get out of it, Moscow has already begun to prepare the answers to them, said the Minister of foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov.

Lavrov noted that Moscow has a lot of years to hear the allegations that the missile, which is usually denoted by index 9М729, was tested by Russia on a range prohibited by the INF Treaty. The Minister noted that initially the U.S. didn’t even call the type of missiles that meant. The foreign Minister said that Russia asked to provide specific information, the Americans «was first given a room only missiles, and then said that it was two tests, given the dates of these tests and reported that it was (polygon — ed.) Kapustin Yar».

«Just a week ago, a few days before it was announced the intention to withdraw from the INF Treaty, the Americans through its Embassy in Moscow handed the Russian foreign Ministry a detailed list of issues that cause them to have suspicions. Finally, we gave it – in response to our requests to provide something that’s bothering them and on what basis do they conclude about our violations of the Treaty. We sent this list to the Ministry of defense of Russia and other departments that need to look at these claims, began work on the preparation of a response to American concerns,» the Minister said in interview to the program «Moscow. The Kremlin. Putin» on TV channel «Russia-1».

Speaking about why the United States did not provide accurate information and claim immediately, Lavrov suggested that it may be connected with fear, «what if they show something, they will compromise sources».

«Not professionally engaged with these issues, so I can only guess, but on the surface it so happens that, by giving us very detailed questionnaire, which is already some way to respond (we started preparing answers) in a few days it was announced that the questionnaire the questionnaire as they leave. It is also not conducive to sustained dialogue and predictability,» added the Minister.

Lack of control is unacceptable

Lavrov also urged the United States to announce that they intend to do in the field of arms control after the withdrawal from the INF Treaty.

«Just uncontrollably, untransparently, so that no one again did not know what others are doing, so it is impossible», — said the Minister.

According to him, trump’s assistant for homeland security John Bolton to the talks acknowledged that relations with Russia requires «some degree of trust and predictability».

In addition, the Minister commented on the US proposal to engage in a Treaty with China, India, Pakistan and Iran.

«Eight or nine years ago, maybe ten, in 2007-2008, we Americans proposed to the UN to all countries that possess intermediate-range and shorter-range, to join the Treaty and make it universal. The response was negative. Honestly, we didn’t expect, but still wanted to use all possibilities for universalization», — Lavrov reminded.

The Treaty on the

Earlier, the President of the United States Donald trump announced that the United States does not intend to comply with the Treaty on intermediate-range and shorter-range when it breaks, and will be released from the contract. Trump said that America will increase its nuclear capacity until then while the rest of us «don’t come around», and after Washington will be ready to stop this process and even to proceed to arms reduction. He explained that this message is addressed primarily to China and Russia.

Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow wants to obtain a more detailed explanation from the United States, and added that the scrapping of the provisions of the INF Treaty would force Russia to take measures to ensure their safety. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that any action in this field will meet.

In recent years Moscow and Washington have regularly accused each other of violating the INF Treaty. Russia has repeatedly stated that strictly complies with its obligations under the contract. Lavrov noted that Moscow has very serious questions to the US regarding the performance of the contract by the Americans themselves. In particular, in Moscow indicate that the United States placed on land at a military base in Romania, and in Poland — a facility capable of launching a shock cruise missiles of type «Tomahawk», which is prohibited by the Treaty. The Russian side also drew attention to the fact that the United States develop unmanned fighting vehicles, funding research on creation of cruise missiles, land-based.
