The volunteers from the beginning of the year helped to find more than 2 thousand missing in Russia, including 700 minors, said the head of Russian Ministry of internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev at the awarding ceremony of police volunteers on Monday.

«The assistance of volunteers allows us to expand the search area, quicker to interview local residents and rescue in distress. For the first nine months of the year, they helped to locate more than 2 thousand missing, including 700 minors,» — said the Minister.

Kolokoltsev awarded departmental awards members of the various volunteer organizations, among them the President of the Moscow public Fund «the Search for missing children» Dmitry Vtorov, coordinator of the search and rescue unit «Lisa Alert» from Ivanovo Konstantin Discant, his colleague from the Vladimir region Marina Dedic, Chairman of the Vologda branch of the Russian red cross Igor Trofimov. In addition, the medal «For the salvation of perishing» was awarded to head of Department of the special forces detachment «Grom» of the Department for control over drug trafficking of the Moi of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Krai Dmitry Panin, after three days found a girl who went to the forest to pick berries and lost.

Kolokoltsev noted that the actions of volunteers helped to ensure the safety on the roads. «From January to September as a result of verification received from citizens information suppressed almost 240 thousand violations of traffic rules. 23 arrested thousands of drivers with signs of intoxication,» — said the Minister.

He also praised the cooperation between the interior Ministry with community anti-drug movements, involving about 400 thousand people.
