Photo exhibition dedicated to Ekaterinburg will be opened in the headquarters of the UN in the framework of the presentation of the Sverdlovsk region, said on Monday the Department of information policy of the Governor of the region.

«Photo exhibition dedicated to Yekaterinburg, the city-candidate to host the world EXPO 2025 will be opened on October 29 at the headquarters of the United Nations. The exhibition will be the cultural component of the presentation of the achievements of the Sverdlovsk region as a region of sustainable development that will be made by the Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev in front of the representatives of the member countries of the United Nations», — stated in the message.

Presentation of the Sverdlovsk region will be held in the framework of the MFA of Russia «Russian Regions and the sustainable development goals of the UN.» Kuyvashev will present projects related to the human potential development, and developments of the Urals in the innovative, cultural, tourism and ecology. Special attention will be given to the Russian bid for the right to host world EXPO 2025 in Yekaterinburg.

Participants will be presented a photo exhibition called «Yekaterinburg: the past, present, future». It contains archival and modern photos of the regional center, as well as presentation materials from the projects «smart city» — EXPO Park that will be built on the shore of Verkh-Isetsky pond in case of a victory of the Russian application for the right to host the world Expo, said the Department.

«Ekaterinburg is located in the heart of Russia, at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Founded as an industrial city in 1723, it has grown into a modern metropolis and center of Commerce and Finance, technology, culture and tourism. Today the city strives to new heights, claiming the right to host the world Expo in 2025,» — said in the annotations to the photographs.

Only the exhibition will feature 24 works. This photos of Yekaterinburg, made in different years, and the projects of architectural and town planning concept of the future EXPO Park. On archival photos, for example, you can look at Lenin Avenue in the 20-ies of the last century, a crossroads of streets Malysheva and Rosa Luxemburg in the 30-ies, the area of Work in the mid-twentieth century, authorities say.
