The Rosselkhoznadzor has documented outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, the Agency reports.

The virus of ASF in the Krasnodar region found as a result of laboratory research of samples of pathological material selected from dead domestic pigs in JSC «Pavlovsk meat-packing plant». As noted, currently the facility is staffed with specialists of the state veterinary service of the region.

In addition, the office of Rosselkhoznadzor for the Stavropol Krai and the Karachay-Cherkess Republic after receiving information about the mass death of pigs carried out a survey of illegal dumps located at the entrance to the village of zhuravs’ke novoselitskogo district, Stavropol territory.

So, when the survey was discovered 13 corpses of pigs, in all samples revealed the genome of African swine fever. Currently, in the Stavropol region holds the events directed on prevention of distribution and elimination of outbreaks of African swine fever, according to the Agency.

African swine fever — a contagious viral disease of pigs that are particularly dangerous. For man, the ASF is not dangerous, but causes serious damage to the agricultural sector, as it does not give in to treatment and vaccinal prevention among animals. To stop the spread of the disease can only strict quarantine measures.
