Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed the participants and guests of the International Congress, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Institute of Oriental studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and noted the increasing role of the national school of Oriental studies, reported on the Kremlin website.

«In recent years, the activity of global politics and economy are increasingly shifting to the East. In these conditions significantly increases the role of the national school of Oriental studies in the expert provision to accept foreign policy decisions and the promotion of strategic interests and positions of Russia in the world» — said in greeting.

The President noted that the Congress gathered in Moscow authentic elite scientific and social thought. Through open, constructive discussions and «round tables» they have to discuss actual problems of modern Oriental studies, plan future joint work.

The head of state also noted that they have the opportunity to congratulate their colleagues with the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Oriental studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

«This unique, world-renowned scientific centre for the law boasts a rich history, a brilliant galaxy of scientists-researchers who laid the tradition of devotional service to the chosen field of work. It is gratifying that the present staff with a deep respect for the creative, the spiritual heritage of the predecessors, strives to keep given them the highest professional standards,» he said.

He noted a major contribution of the Institute to the training of qualified specialists in the development of international humanitarian cooperation.
