NATO does not expect that the planned Russian rocket fire in the Norwegian sea will affect the exercises Trident Juncture in the region, relies on the professional conduct of the Russian military, said Tuesday the Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.

The largest post-cold war NATO military exercises conducted in Norway from October 25 to November 7. In the scenario of collective defence when an attack of the enemy involved 50 thousand troops, forces and means of all 29 allies and partners — Sweden and Finland.

«We are transparent in their actions, we briefed Russia on their exercises and their invited observers. We’re doing everything we can to avoid any dangerous situation,» — said Stoltenberg, speaking to reporters in Norway.

«Russia has a significant presence in the area, they regularly conduct exercises with their naval forces. I am sure that Russian forces will behave responsibly, professionally and safely as and NATO forces, and this will not change the plans of our exercises,» he added, answering a question of journalists how NATO responds to Russian plans to spend November 1-3 shooting in the Norwegian sea, where also are the teachings of the Alliance.

The NATO Secretary General said that the Alliance «we need to take note of the Russian notification». «We were informed last week. We will continue our exercises as planned. Don’t expect this will cause any serious problems,» — said Stoltenberg, noting that the Alliance will «closely follow what makes Russia» but the Russian side acts in international waters.
