VEB will in any case find a way to pay their foreign debts, if he will introduce tighter US sanctions, said the head of Vnesheconombank Igor Shuvalov.

«Sanctions are when you have to get something is hard to obtain. And when to give — easy enough. Because we are a reliable borrower, a way to pay in any case on its debt we’ll find,» said Shuvalov to journalists on the results of the Supervisory Board of VEB.

«I don’t. We must be ready always», — said Shuvalov on the question of whether he is prepared for sanctions.

Once U.S. sanctions against Russia came into force on 27 August. The second, more stringent round of sanctions could be introduced in November: the ban in this case could affect lending to Russian legal entities, export and import of goods.

Also in August, the us Congress introduced a bill with a whole set of anti-Russian measures, including sanctions against the new debt of the Russian Federation and state-owned banks, the list of which includes VEB, Sberbank, VTB, Gazprombank, Rosselkhozbank, and Promsvyazbank.
