The delegation of Tatarstan shared their experience of printing of the Quran by sheikhs of Dubai during the Global economic summit in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), said on the phone, mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Samigullin.

According to the mufti, he was invited as an expert at the Commission meeting on the preparation of a printing of the Quran, Dubai international Holy Quran award (DIHQA — Dubai International Holy Quran Award).

«We know that the world’s first Koran was printed in Kazan for more than two centuries ago, and known to us as «the Cauldron Basmasy». And today in Dubai in preparation for the next printing of the Qur’an, there are three editions of «the Cauldron basmasy» — 1803-th, 1914, and 2016 editions. In addition, the Dubai specialists actively refer to the works of famous Tatar theologian Musa Bigiev. It is noteworthy that all the publications the scientists of the UAE downloaded on the website of the electronic library of our spiritual administration,» — said Samigullin.

Mufti of Tatarstan said that «the Cauldron basmasy» is the «historical brand of the Tatar people, one of the best editions of the Qur’an in the world.»

He also noted that religious leaders, international experts and scientists-Orientalists tend to believe that this edition of the Koran is not only convenient to read but also memorize the text and correct pronunciation, which is especially important for readers who do not speak Arabic.

Samigullin said that in his time the Tatars specially developed fonts based on handwritten fonts that are traditionally available at that time on the territory of Tatarstan. «In the Muslim world there is a statement: «the Qur’an was revealed in the Hijaz, written in Istanbul, held in Cairo, published in Kazan». It is difficult not to agree with this statement, which is essentially a historical document», — concluded the mufti of Tatarstan.
