China strongly opposes any military and other official contacts with Taiwan, the United States, said Wednesday the official representative of the office of Taiwan Affairs under the state Council of China MA Shaoguan in connection with the passage of U.S. warships in the Taiwan Strait.

Last week, the Ministry of national defense of Taiwan announced that two us warships passed through the Taiwan Strait, it was noted that the route of us ships in the waters of Taiwan is completely under the control of government forces.

«All drew attention to the relevant incident, and the foreign Ministry of China, and our defense establishment have already expressed our position and attitude. The Taiwan issue involves national sovereignty and territorial integrity of China we are firmly opposed to any official exchanges and military contacts the United States and Taiwan,» said MA Shaoguan.

According to him, the Chinese position has always been clear and it is unchangeable.

He stressed that if Taiwan is to rely on the support of other countries to collude with external forces, it can undermine peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and to lead to negative consequences.

Official relations between the Central government of China and the island province was interrupted in 1949 after defeated in the civil war with the Communist party of China Kuomintang forces headed by Chiang Kai-shek moved to Taiwan. Business and informal contacts between Taiwan and mainland China resumed in late 1980-ies. Since the early 1990-ies, the parties began to communicate through non-governmental organizations, the Beijing Association for the development of relations across the Taiwan Strait and Taipei Fund exchanges across the Strait.
