Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov discussed with a colleague from Bahrain Abdullah al Khalifa bilateral relations and the situation in the middle East; the parties stressed the lack of an alternative political solution to the crisis in the region, said the foreign Ministry.
«The thirty-first of October the Russian foreign Ministry held a meeting with the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov with the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdullah al Khalifa, who is in Moscow to participate in the events dedicated to 200-th anniversary of the Institute of Oriental studies,» — said in the Ministry.
As noted in the statement, the sides discussed issues of further development of multifaceted bilateral relations between Russia and Bahrain. «Confirmed mutual intention of Moscow and Manama to maintain a regular political dialogue, expand mutually beneficial cooperation in trade-economic, investment, energy, agriculture and cultural-humanitarian spheres,» — said the Russian foreign Ministry.
Bogdanov and al-Khalifa also exchanged views on the situation in the middle East, including the situation in Syria, Yemen and the Persian Gulf.
«The marked lack of alternative to overcoming remaining in this strategically important area of the world conflicts and crises by political and diplomatic means in strict accordance with international law and the UN Charter. Also expressed common opinion of the importance of consolidation of efforts for effective fight against international terrorism and extremist ideology» — said the Russian foreign Ministry.
Earlier, Bogdanov discussed with Egyptian counterpart Muhammad, Albadri solution to the crises in Syria, Libya and Yemen.
