Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Morgulov during the fourth round of Russian-Japanese talks had discussed with his Japanese counterpart Takeo Mori issues of economic activities on southern Kuriles, and also the creation of a free movement of residents of the Sakhalin oblast and the Hokkaido Prefecture of Japan, said the foreign Ministry.
«The thirty-first of October in Moscow hosted the fourth round of Russian-Japanese talks at the level of Deputy foreign Ministers (Morgulov — Maury) on the establishment of joint economic activities on southern Kuriles. In consultation with the Russian side was attended by representatives of Federal agencies and the government of the Sakhalin region», — said the Russian foreign Ministry.
It is noted that during the talks the parties discussed issues of cooperation projects in five promising areas (aquaculture, greenhouses, package tours, wind energy and recycling of waste) taking into account the priorities of socio-economic development of the region.
The parties also discussed the topic of establishment of a regime of free movement of inhabitants of the Sakhalin oblast and the Hokkaido Prefecture of Japan.
«The timing of the next round will be agreed through diplomatic channels,» the Ministry added.
