The commander of the NATO exercise Trident Juncture, the commander of the U.S. Navy in Europe and Africa Admiral James Foggo hopes that the Russian military during firing exercises in the Norwegian sea to act «peacefully and professionally.»

The largest post-cold war NATO military exercises conducted in Norway from October 25 to November 7. In the scenario of collective defence when an attack of the enemy involved 50 thousand troops, forces and means of all 29 allies and partners — Sweden and Finland. Russia plans to spend November 1-3 shooting in the Norwegian sea.

«Russia has to understand and intend to establish a restricted area in international waters off the coast of Norway, between 1 and 3 November. This restricted area could be used for any demonstration of missile tests. But we’re not sure,» said Foggo during a telephone briefing.

«As far as we know, this is not something abnormal. This happens in international waters. We’ll deal with it. And NATO Secretary General share my view that we expect that if the Russian armed forces intend to use this area for any of the exercises, they will do it peacefully and professionally as we would have done if I were in such conditions,» — said Foggo.
