Parallel choices for teenagers from 14 to 18 years could prepare politically active young people and to solve the problem of turnout, said the former head of the Central election Commission of the Russian Federation Nikolay Ryabov.
«I would suggest to introduce a so-called parallel elections for young people from 14 to 18. You just think about this problem. We prepare socially and politically active young people through education in schools, colleges where you enter the beginning of the electoral process, the rights and freedoms of citizens and so on. It’s good, but largely passing by, if they will have practical involvement in this matter,» said Ryabov in a solemn event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the electoral system of Russia.
«Parallel electing their parliaments, representatives of Executive authority, working as an Advisory vote, to discuss their problems, offering them a real adult authority, they not only give the relationship between generations, but also prepare yourself to be politically active. This will largely reduce the problem of turnout, which we are seriously concerned», he added.
