The Orthodox community, located in the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, went to the Russian Orthodox Church abroad (ROCOR) because of disagreement with the actions of Constantinople in Ukraine, confirmed on Thursday the head of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate on relations of the Church with society and mass-media Vladimir Legoyda.

Earlier, Archpriest Maxim Volynets wrote on the social network Facebook that the Russian parish in Florence was transferred to the jurisdiction of ROCOR: «for the Liturgy commemorated Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America and new York», first Hierarch of the ROCOR. Rector of the Church of the Nativity and of St. Nicholas in Florence is Archpriest George Blatensky.

«Since the late 90-ies of the last century, know father George Latinskog as a fine pastor and a wonderful man. He reiterated this decision: the community of Constantinople, Florence moved to ROCOR in response to its actions in Ukraine,» — wrote Vladimir Legoyda Thursday in his Telegram channel.

Because of the decision of Constantinople to begin providing non-canonical autocephaly churches in Ukraine, which the Russian Orthodox Church is called the schism, the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on 15 October announced the severance of communication with the Patriarchate of Constantinople on the canonical territory of the ROC, including Ukraine and Belarus. The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church has called canonically void, and saw politics in the abolition of Constantinople by the act of 1686 on the transfer of the Kyiv Metropolitanate to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate. The head of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion said that Constantinople lost its right to be called the coordinating centre of Orthodoxy. In the Russian Orthodox Church hope that Constantinople will change the decision to give the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church, and before that he will be in schism.
