Termination of the Agreement on cooperation in the Azov sea will actually make the Kerch Strait Russian. About this on air of Gromadsky TV said the Deputy head of the Ministry of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine Georgy Tuka.

The official said that after the termination of the agreement, relations between Kiev and Moscow will be governed by international Maritime law. According to tookie, it will lead to the fact that Ukraine will not be able to ensure navigation in the region.

«If we tear up the agreement, which is valid now, and move on to the international plane, the Russian Federation will announce, from her point of view it is absolutely logical, 12-mile and 24-mile zone along the Crimean coast. Thus, the Kerch Strait on both sides are actually covered these Russian areas. <…> But how in the future we can provide shipping? Using the Navy? What, I’m sorry, we don’t have,» explained Tuck.

The agreement between Russia and Ukraine about cooperation in use of Azov sea and the Kerch Strait came into force in 2004. According to the document, the Azov sea is divided by the line of the state border in accordance with the bilateral agreement. The document also establishes the freedom of navigation non-commercial ships of the two countries and formulates rules of entering the waters of vessels of third countries.

While the Crimean border guard service stressed that conducts audits in accordance with international law of the sea and had not received complaints from ship owners. The Ukrainian foreign Ministry admitted that Russian border guards do not violate the protocols during the inspection.
