Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov did not comment on the agreement with the government and oil companies on stabilization of the situation in the oil market.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said that the Ministry of energy, FAS, oil companies and independent refineries have agreed on measures to stabilize prices in the fuel market, agreeing on the level of supply of petroleum products to large and small wholesale at fixed volumes and prices, and the agreement must begin to come to pass tomorrow.

«Such evaluation should give the actual government of the Russian Federation, so we do not wish to add any other assessments. It is very important for the economy of the country. We have already said that action is being taken, now you see what it is» — Peskov said, answering the journalists ‘ question about how the Kremlin assess the agreement of the government and the oil and do the final measure to curb gasoline prices.

On Monday, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev noted, in some cases, rising prices for gasoline and mandated the Ministry of energy and Kozak in the next two days to hold consultations with the oil companies. The Premier threatened to impose prohibitive export duties on oil and oil products, if in the course of the consultations no agreement is reached on the freezing of domestic prices of petroleum products.

On Wednesday, Cossack on the Cabinet meeting said that the Cabinet has prepared a package of agreements with oil companies to stabilize prices for fuel, which can be signed at the meeting in the evening. Draft agreements, he said, provide for the obligation for companies «in terms of supplying the domestic fuel market and prices, to provide the necessary minimum profitability for the independent suppliers of petroleum products».

Medvedev said in response that if the meeting with oil companies fail to agree, then the rest of the week will be released the document on introduction of prohibitive duties on oil and oil products.
