Spain Prosecutor asks for 25 years imprisonment for the former Deputy head of Generalitat Catalonia Oriola of Junkers charged with mutiny and embezzlement of public funds, the newspaper reports Pais.

For the former leader of the public organization «Catalan national Assembly» Jordi Sanchez, the head of another public organization OmniumCultural Jordi Kaisara and ex-Parliament speaker Karma Forcadell the Prosecutor’s office asks 17 years in prison on charges of organizing a mutiny.

For ex-councillors (members of the Catalan government) Joaquim Forno, Jordi Turula, Josep Steering, Raoul Romeva and Dolors Bass the Prosecutor’s office requested 16 years in prison for organizing a mutiny and embezzlement. Also for the former head of the law enforcement agencies of the Catalan Mossos d’esquadra, josé Luis Trapero National court prosecutors requested 11 years in prison on charges of sedition.

Earlier it was reported that the Spanish Supreme court has completed the judicial investigation against Catalan politicians, who are accused of holding an illegal referendum on independence in October of last year, and announced the start of the trial on the merits against 18 accused.

The charges of mutiny and embezzlement of public funds brought against former Deputy Chairman of the government of Catalonia to the Oriola Junkers, ex-Parliament speaker Karma Forcadell, ex-councillors (members of the Catalan government), Joaquim Forné, Jordi Turull, Josep Helm, Raul Romeva and Dolors the bass.

Three former members of Generalitat – Merical Borras, Carles Mundo and Santi Vila is charged with embezzlement of state funds and insubordination.

In the so-called referendum on independence, which was conducted by the Catalan government on 1 October 2017, was attended by 42% of the population, 90% of which voted for the secession of the Autonomous community from Spain. The government of Spain and the constitutional court declared the vote illegal.

Based on the results of the «referendum», the Catalan Parliament on 27 October declared independence. The next day, the government with the consent of the Senate introduced direct rule in the Autonomous community, ousted from power Generalitat and dissolved the Parliament. Against the former Catalan leaders and the leaders of the separatist community organizations, former leaders of the Catalan law enforcement agencies and former leaders of Parliament prosecuted.
