. In Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will establish a monument to Karachai, killed in Central Asia in the years of exile from 1943 to 1957, said Friday the head of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Rashid Temrezov.

Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Karachai Autonomous oblast was liquidated on 12 October 1943 and Karachai were recognized as accomplices of the Nazi troops and, on 2 November 1943, deported to Central Asia and Kazakhstan. Karachai began to return to their homes after rehabilitation in January 1957.

On Friday in Karachay-Cherkessia, there were mass events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of deportation of Karachai people. The largest memorial service, attended by thousands of residents of the region, was held in the city Karachayevsk at the memorial to the victims of deportation.
