It is hoped that it will be able to make the United States the opportunity to continue imports of crude oil from Iran after the November 4, risking to fall under the restrictive measures on the part of Washington, told RIA Novosti source in the Indian foreign Ministry.

«We have already held several rounds of negotiations on this question both by the United States and with other stakeholders. As for US, we hope that we will be able to agree on the issue of continuation of supply (from Iran),» said the diplomat.

«As you know, India is largely dependent on oil imports, it also depends largely on its economic growth. Abrupt cessation of oil supplies from Iran, which offers its partners favourable conditions, will lead to a jump in fuel prices in the country. We conveyed our position to our American colleagues», — said the Agency interlocutor.

On the question of whether the US insist on the fact that allied countries, including India, which traditionally has good relations with Tehran, continue to restrict economic partnership with Tehran, he replied: «Yes, definitely».

Spokesman of the Indian foreign Ministry Ravish Kumar told reporters that Washington has not officially informed new Delhi about the possible intention to exempt India from sanctions in connection with the continuation of purchases of Iranian oil. As the diplomat said, India continues to communicate with all stakeholders on this issue to save our energy security and protect its national interests.

The President of the United States Donald trump announced in may that Washington is out of agreement with Iran on its nuclear program. He also reported the return of all sanctions against Iran including secondary, that is, against other countries doing business with Iran. Once again, the U.S. has enacted on August 7 some of the sanctions against Iran. The more significant sanctions that would cover oil exports, are expected on 5 November. Washington has said it aims to bring Iranian oil exports down to zero and urged its customers to abandon such purchases.
