MOSCOW, Nov 2 — RIA Novosti. The clergy of the diocese of Kharkiv confirmed the faithful of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate.

«The congregation of the clergy led by the Bishop testified to the faithfulness of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church headed by its Primate his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onuphrius»,— stated in the message on the diocesan website.

Earlier Onufry said that in Ukraine there is an attempt to take possession of the Church, subordinate to God himself, but this is the wrong spiritual line, which will not bring blessings to the Ukrainian land and its people.

The dispute about autocephaly

In mid-October, the Ecumenical Patriarchate announced that it begins the granting of autocephaly of the non-canonical Church in Ukraine. In particular, he recalled the act of 1686 on the transfer of the Kiev diocese in the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate, and abolished the anathema imposed by the Russian Orthodox Church at the head of the self-proclaimed «Kiev Patriarchate» Filaret and the leader of the non-canonical Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Macarius.

In the ROC these solutions are called split and severed Eucharistic communion with the Patriarchate of Constantinople on the canonical territory, including Ukraine and Belarus. Similar decision was taken by the Synod of bishops of the Russian Church abroad (ROCOR).
