Russia has imposed counter-sanctions against hundreds of Ukrainian citizens and companies

Russia responded to the Ukrainian sanctions by the introduction of special economic measures which relate to the 322 physical and legal persons. 68 Among them — Minister of internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, the head of the SBU Vasily Gritsak, Minister of defense Stepan Poltorak, the radicals Dmytro Yarosh and Oleh Lyashko, former Prime Ministers Yulia Tymoshenko and Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

In addition, they will affect the judges of the Ukrainian constitutional court, administration officials, heads of Executive authorities, some politicians and businessmen and the military.

They provide for a contractee

The corresponding decree signed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, published on the government website.

«Are special economic measures against individuals and legal entities of Ukraine, providing for the blocking (freezing) of non-cash, book-entry securities and property in Russia and a ban on the transfer of funds (capital flight) outside of Russia», — said the press service of the Russian government.

The regulation is aimed at countering unfriendly actions against Russian citizens and legal entities. the Ministry of industry and Minekonomrazvitija instructed to prevent the negative impact of the measures in respect of Ukraine on the activities of Russian companies and the Ministry of Finance is responsible for the changes in the sanctions list.

While Moscow reserves the right to cancel these measures, if Kiev will remove restrictions against Russia.

Mirror measures

The introduction of counter-sanctions in respect of Ukraine is connected with implementation of the decree, which Putin signed on October 22, said the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, these measures were mirrored by the response to Kiev’s actions.

«You know that Russia was not the initiator of this exchange, you know that for quite a long time our Ukrainian colleagues in this way practiced — that is, in fact, the answer is not forced himself to wait,» — said Peskov told reporters.

Thus a press-the Secretary did not rule out that Moscow may cancel countermeasures, if Kiev will cancel its sanctions.

«Of course, we hope that sooner or later, let’s say, the political will to normalize relations with Russia somehow some at least tentative shoots will give on Ukrainian soil. Now while we do not see», — said Peskov.

He also explained why President Petro Poroshenko was not included in the sanctions list.

«Traditionally, the President is not included in the sanctions lists, this is, shall we say, a outrageous step,» — said Peskov.

Ukraine has imposed sanctions in September 2015, and then extended several times and expanded them. In addition, in January 2015 the Verkhovna Rada adopted the statement in which Russia is called «an aggressor country». Kiev has repeatedly accused Moscow of meddling in Ukraine’s Affairs, in particular in involvement in the conflict in the South-East of the country, espionage, cyber attacks and even the supply of Ukrainian rocket engines in the DPRK, but no evidence was not provided.

Moscow has repeatedly stated that is not a party to domestic conflict and is interested in Kiev overcame political and economic crisis.

Who else got to the sanctions list

Among the Ukrainians, which relate the response of Russia — press Secretary of President Svyatoslav Tsegolko, the Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko, Secretary of the national security Council and defense Oleksandr Turchynov, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly, the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy, Deputy defense Minister Anatoly Petrenko, the chief of the General staff Viktor Muzhenko, the former commander of the battalion «Donbass» Semyon, the leader of the «Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people»* Mustafa Dzhemilev, who also lived in the Crimea until 2014, Andrei Senchenko, Sergey Kunitsin and Refat Chubarov.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in the list, but his son Alexei Moscow’s response will affect.

The list also is the head of «Naftogaz of Ukraine» Andrei KOBOLEV and the owner of the filling station network «Galnaftogaz» Vitaliy Antonov.

As regards legal persons, the responses apply to «UkrGaz-Energo» and «cherkasygaz», «Bank credit Dnipro», the state enterprise «Ukrspirt» State food and grain Corporation chemical plant «Dniproazot», PJSC «Nitrogen, a major agricultural enterprise «zernoprodukt MHP» meat factory «Favorit Plus», agricultural enterprise «NIBULON», fertiliser «Rivneazot» and «Himdivision» company «starinsky poultry», «Ukrainian bacon» and «Trading house «Agroimport LTD», engaged in manufacturing of mineral fertilizers, and other companies.
