Moscow is ready to consider the possibility of extending the start Treaty for five years after 2021, but it needs to resolve current problems in the current agreement, said Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

«We are not talking time, and President (Vladimir) Putin mentioned, including publicly and in contacts with the President (of the USA Donald) trump, that we are ready to consider the possibility of extending the start Treaty for five years after his ten-year term in 2021,» said Lavrov at press conference following talks with OSCE Secretary General.

However, he noted that the implementation of this feature, you need to resolve the existing problems associated with the execution of this agreement.

«And, of course, if we talk about missile defense, the problems associated with the deployment of US ABM elements in Europe and now in Asia, they directly affect strategic stability, not to leave out any honest professional discussions,» the Minister added.
