Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew fills the order from overseas for the dismemberment of the one Russian Orthodox Church, the agreement between him and the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is «intensely political», said the head of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.
Poroshenko and Bartholomew signed Saturday the agreement on cooperation and interaction between Ukraine and the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the text of which has not yet been published.
«The latest steps and decisions Patriarch Bartholomew, including the signing of today’s agreements, lie outside the canonical field and are located exclusively in the political sphere», — said Metropolitan Hilarion, who leads the Synodal Department for Church relations with society and the media. According to him, Patriarch Bartholomew performs «ordering from overseas, aimed at weakening and dismemberment of the one Russian Church.»
The authorities in Kiev and non-canonical Church structure in Ukraine hope till the end of the year to receive the Tomos of autocephaly from Constantinople, but Tomos can get only the Primate of the «United» Church, it needs to select on the «unification Council» of the Orthodox churches in Ukraine, which date is not appointed yet. This canonical UOC said that is not going to participate in this event.
