Russian journalists came to the talks of foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Secretary General of the OSCE Thomas Greminger in t-shirts with a portrait of the arrested in Ukraine, the head of RIA news Ukraine Kirill Vyshinsky, the correspondent of RIA Novosti.

Greminger stressed that his mandate does not give him a Supervisory role to monitor the work of the OSCE special representative for media, but with regard to the work of the Dezir, it works impartially.

Summing up a kind of discussion at a press conference, Lavrov noted that the OSCE opportunities are there for the «beliefs» of Kiev, how to resolve the issue of violation of media rights on the territory of Ukraine, but apparently, the Western partners are embarrassed to talk about this issue publicly.

Journalist Agency Sputnik Greminger gave a letter to his mother Wyszynski with a request to facilitate the early release of her son.

Also on Friday, a rally in support Wyszynski was held at the Embassy of Ukraine in Moscow. Her motto is «Business is quite transparent», symbols of the shares were skeins of white thread and posters that say «Will Vyshinsky». Among the participants were the General Director of MIA «Russia today» Dmitry Kiselev, chief editor MIA «Russia today» Margarita Simonyan, Chairman of the Russian Union of journalists Vladimir Solovyov. The protesters demanded the immediate release of the journalist from custody.

Vyshinsky not to allow Russian consular workers, citing the fact that he has Ukrainian citizenship. The Russian foreign Ministry described the actions of Kiev against the RIA Novosti Ukraine as a tyranny. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called them unacceptable. The Embassy of Russia has sent the Ukrainian foreign Ministry two notes with a demand to stop violence against the media.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Wyszynski was arrested «for his direct professional activities, for exercising his journalistic functions,» and stressed that the arrest of Vyshinsky — «absolutely unprecedented and totally unacceptable policy of the current Ukrainian rulers, it should be appropriately reflected in the reaction of the journalistic community and international human rights organizations.» He also expressed the hope that it will be possible to secure the release of Wyszynski, including by means of pressure on Ukraine in international organizations.

The OSCE representative on freedom of the media, Harlem Desir had previously expressed serious concern about the actions of Kiev in relation to RIA Novosti Ukraine. After the next prolongation of term of detention of Vyshinsky custody Dezir expressed disappointment with Ukraine’s position and called for the release of the journalist. The Secretary General of the OSCE Thomas Greminger, commenting on the situation with Wyszynski, stressed that all the countries of the organization committed to promote an environment in which journalists can fulfill their obligations in another member state, and therefore must abide by international standards and not to interfere in the work of the media.
