The Minister of foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif, held telephone conversation with head of the EU diplomacy Frederica Mogherini and the foreign Ministers of Germany, Denmark and Sweden, the two sides discussed the US decision to impose new sanctions against Iran, said on Saturday the Agency Mehr.
Earlier Friday, the office for foreign assets control of the U.S. Treasury published the text of sanctions against Iran, which will come into force on Monday. The document was published in electronic database of the Federal register, the official publication scheduled on 5 November. According to the document, the new sanctions, as expected, come into effect following the decision of the President of the United States Donald trump on may 8, on the country’s withdrawal from the Joint comprehensive plan of action with Iran.
In accordance with the decision of the Agency, subject to U.S. jurisdiction will be blocked all assets of persons and companies associated with the government of Iran (since August 7, 2018) and its energy companies Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Naftiran Intertrade Company, as well as with the Central Bank of Iran (after November 5, 2018).
According to the Agency, Mogherini and the foreign Ministers of European countries stressed their commitment to the Joint comprehensive plan of action (SVPD) and the desire to preserve an efficient financial channels with Iran and to continue the export of Iranian oil and gas.
The parties also stated that the mechanism of special purpose (Special purpose vehicle, SPV) will be officially launched in the coming days.
Earlier, the UK, Germany, France, China, Russia and Iran on the results of the Ministerial meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations in a joint statement announced that the EU will create a financial mechanism special purpose SPV to make payments to Iran to bypass U.S. sanctions.
The President of the United States Donald trump announced in may that Washington is out of agreement with Iran on its nuclear program. He also reported the return of all sanctions against Iran including secondary, that is, against other countries doing business with Iran. Once again, the U.S. has enacted on August 7 some of the sanctions against Iran. The more significant sanctions that would cover oil exports, are expected on 5 November. Washington has said it aims to bring Iranian oil exports down to zero and urged its customers to abandon such purchases.
