The government of North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has announced the construction project of the second tallest statue in the world — a monument to the God-hero Rama in the city of Ayodhya, reports the Sunday TV channel NDTV.

«Nobody can prevent us to erect a statue of the God Rama in Ayodhya. Let’s try if any to do it. Ayodhya belongs to Lord Rama,» said the Deputy chief Minister of the state Keshav Prasad Maurya, quoted by the TV channel.

According to him, the height of the monument will be 151 feet, making it the second largest monument in the world. The tallest monument today is the statue of Unity dedicated to the leader of the national liberation movement of India Vallabhbhai Patel. Its height is 182 meters, the monument was opened last week in the state of Gujarat.

According to Maury, it is expected that the chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi adityanath is during the upcoming «festival of lights» Diwali will announce details of its ambitious plan for the construction of the statue Frame. The monument will be built on the banks of the Saraya river, now the authorities choose one of three possible sites for construction, notes NDTV.
