China intends to continue to increase imports, simplification of customs procedures and reduction of duties, said on Monday Chinese President XI Jinping at the opening ceremony of the first China international import EXPO.

«China is a huge market with endless possibilities. We intend to increase the potential for increased imports. The initiative of China on increasing imports is not a momentary choice, it is a future-oriented step towards the unification of the world and the achievement of General development,» he said.

XI Jinping added that China intends to further unlock the potential of the internal market.

«We intend to reduce customs duties, simplify customs procedures, reduce import costs, speed up the development of new forms and patterns of trafficking, including development of cross-border Internet trade,» he said.

The Chinese President noted that the organization of import EXPO as part of a series of measures to increase imports. The exhibition, he said, will be held annually, and its level will rise.

The first China international import EXPO (China International Import Expo) opened in Shanghai on Monday and runs until November 10. The exhibition was attended by more than 2.8 thousand companies from over 130 countries and regions of the world.

The Russian company is represented in five industry areas: food and agricultural products, high-tech equipment, medical equipment and supplies, services, and consumer goods. A delegation from Russia is headed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
