Russia and China need to protect existing trade regimes, not destroy them, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting with President of China XI Jinping.

«Our joint task is to ensure that existing international trade regimes to protect, not destroy, as is, unfortunately, sometimes it happens,» — said the Russian Prime Minister.

According to him, it was interesting to take part in the First China international fair of imported goods. He thanked for the invitation of Russia to this organisation as a partner country.

«I want to thank you again for the attention you have given to the Russian delegation. I think this is a very good platform, which every year can be used in order to come to different countries, companies from these countries, and on the other hand, in order to promote an important agenda in international trade», — said Medvedev.

The Russian Prime Minister agreed with the President of China, who believes that in this field we have accumulated quite a lot of problems.

The head of the Russian government during the meeting with XI Jinping stressed that the level of cooperation between Russia and China is unprecedentedly high. He stated that his counterpart three times already this year met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the next contact which is scheduled for late November in Buenos Aires at the summit of «twenty».

«All this proves that our two countries have established relations of strategic partnership and cooperation», — concluded the head of government.

He added that in 2019, Russia and China will celebrate the 70-th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations that will entail a lot of importance to both States events.

Opening the meeting with Medvedev, XI Jinping asked «to convey greetings and best wishes to President Putin.» «Expect our joint meeting with him and participation in the summit of «Big twenty» at the end of the month in Buenos Aires,» he said.

He also noticed that the re-election of a Russian leader to the presidency and Medvedev’s reappointment on the post of Prime Minister symbolize a lot of trust in their address from the Russians. XI Jinping expressed his confidence that Medvedev’s visit and the forthcoming summit of heads of governments of the two countries «will give an additional impetus to the comprehensive cooperation between our countries».

The Chinese leader pointed out that in recent years rapidly and steadily developing Russian-Chinese relations, which affects the level of political trust, but also to breakthrough developments in a practical way. XI Jinping also noted the progress in international Affairs and cooperation within the multilateral organizations. «Then, hopefully, the parties will not be resting on our laurels and will strive to deepen our relations in the new era», he concluded.

In turn, the Russian Prime Minister also conveyed to his counterpart the greetings from President Vladimir Putin.
