Children pilgrims from different cities of Ukraine gave the loaf to the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill at the meeting in Moscow.

Representatives of children’s creative teams from different cities of Ukraine for the 15th time on a pilgrimage to Orthodox shrines of Russia. The annual trips organized by the Synodal Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church «Church and culture».

During a meeting with Patriarch Kirill, the children sang Ukrainian songs and dances, and handed him a loaf, and presents, made them his own.

«Such meetings are in some way the answer to my prayers. In your face I see a young generation of Orthodox people, Ukrainians, who preserve the unity of our Church, and hence the hope for a future that is bright, peaceful, and I believe very prosperous for all of us, my dear,» said the Patriarch at a meeting in the refectory of the Epiphany Yelokhovo Cathedral. His words are quoted by his press service.

The Patriarch blessed the young pilgrims and also gave them gifts.

He also said that every day in a special way to pray for Ukraine and that today threaten the very unity of the Orthodox Church.

«I am called to pray for everybody. I can’t do all by name list — tens of millions of people belong to our Church. But I pray for our Church, for the people. And every day, absolutely especially in the cell I pray for Ukraine», — said the Patriarch.

He noted that it was «the most intense prayer that requires special inner strength». «I know that it is very difficult today — the enemy of mankind takes up arms against the unity of our Church. And therefore pray the Lord of all gave us strength, fortress, confidence in the rightness of our cause» — said the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Because of the decision of Constantinople to begin providing non-canonical autocephaly churches in Ukraine, which the Russian Orthodox Church is called the schism, the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on 15 October announced the severance of communication with the Patriarchate of Constantinople on the canonical territory of the ROC, including Ukraine and Belarus.

The Synod called canonically void, and saw politics in the abolition of Constantinople by the act of 1686 on the transfer of the Kyiv Metropolitanate to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate. Metropolitan Hilarion said earlier that Constantinople lost its right to be called the coordinating centre of Orthodoxy. In the Russian Orthodox Church hope that Constantinople will change the decision to give the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church, and before that he will be in schism.
