A plaque Russian soldier Alexei Cherkasov, who died in Syria in 2017, opened on Tuesday in the high school of Ussuriysk in Primorsky Krai, according to the city administration.

From 1994 to 2001 Alexey Cherkasov studied at secondary school №14 Ussuriysk, then entered the Ussuriysk Suvorov military school, after studying at the military Institute of the Border, and then in the Amur economic Institute of the city of Blagoveshchensk. In December 2012 he signed a contract for military service, 5 November 2017 tragically died in the fighting in the Syrian Arab Republic. In December 2017 the decree of the President of the Russian Federation Alexey Cherkasov was posthumously awarded the order of Courage.

«The ceremony was attended by servicemen of the Ussuri garrison, representatives of the administration and the Duma of the Ussuriisk city district, the students and residents of the city. The Deputy commander of the 5th red banner combined arms army Nikolai Karnicki noted that, in opening a commemorative plaque, assurity perpetuate the memory of the fallen countryman, who gave his life honorably performed their military service duty», — is spoken in the message.

«We bow our heads in memory of a true hero – Lieutenant Alexey Cherkasov, whose name will forever remain in our hearts,» said Karnicki, whose words are reported.

The mother of the deceased Zinaida Cherkasova noted that her son was a brave man, who always looked up to his older brother, who died in the war in Chechnya. Those attending the ceremony honoured the memory Cherkasova a minute of silence and gun shots, and then laid flowers to the memorial plaque.
