US sanctions against Iran is illegitimate, they violate decisions of the UN security Council, said Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

«With regard to the us measures against Iran, they are absolutely illegitimate. They are in flagrant violation of the decisions of the security Council of the UN, and the forms in which these measures are announced and implemented, of course, can not but cause deep disappointment. We believe that not only the norms of international law, but international communication has not been canceled. And conducting policy on the basis of ultimatums and one-sided demands, of course, in our era is hardly acceptable,» — said Lavrov.

The additional US sanctions against Iran, which involved the export of oil, entered into force 5 Nov. The US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo announced that Washington provides temporary exceptions to the oil sanctions to China, India, Italy, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey.

The President of the United States Donald trump announced in may that Washington is out of agreement with Iran on its nuclear program. He also reported the return of all sanctions against Iran including secondary in relation to other countries doing business with Iran. Part of the sanctions Washington imposed on 7 August and 5 November, the U.S. Treasury contributed to the sanctions list of more than 700 individuals, organizations, aircraft and ships to Iran, including 14 of the largest banks. One of the reasons for the imposition of sanctions, the United States called Iran’s support of terrorism.

The permanent representative of Iran to the UN, gholamali khoshrou sent to the Secretary General of the organization a letter with a request to respond to the US imposed «illegal and contrary to the generally accepted principles of the Charter of the UN» sanctions.
