Moscow is interested in the normalization of relations with the EU, but Russia can not pay attention to the increased presence of NATO near its borders, said Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia is on a working visit in Madrid. On Tuesday, he held talks with the foreign Minister of Spain Josep Borrell.
«We exchanged views on the current state of relations between Russia and the EU. Both sides have a sincere interest in seeing these relations to normalize. We can’t not pay attention to such a serious destabilizing factor in the Euro-Atlantic region as the intensification of NATO activities at Russian borders,» Lavrov said following the talks.
Twenty-fifth day of October in Norway launched the largest post-cold war NATO military exercises near borders of the Russian Federation: in the testing scenario of collective defence when an attack of the enemy was involved 50 thousand troops, forces and means of all 29 allies and partners — Sweden and Finland. To demonstrate itself in action Alliance promises on land, at sea, in the air, and in cyberspace.
