The Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov proposed a joint Spanish-Russian group on cyber security.

At a press conference following negotiations with Spanish foreign Minister Josep Borrell Lavrov said that his Spanish counterpart during the conversation, «drew attention to the fact that some Russian media claim to go beyond his journalistic activities and is forbidden intervention in the various election processes of other States.»

«As I tell you now, Mr. Minister said that we prefer this kind of concerns to discuss not using the microphone, and professionally, if you have questions to one of the Russian citizens from the Russian media. We don’t want relations with Spain, with our good friend spoiled. And we want those concerns are not ignored and were presented on the basis of concrete facts» — Lavrov said.

He added that Borrell reminded «that we all our European partners and American partners have repeatedly offered and offer to create a bilateral working mechanisms on issues of cybersecurity».

«This is a subject that will be with us for very long. Cyberspace is used in various ways, including improper, and we want to consider any emerging issues through professional dialogue. It seemed to me that our Spanish partners interested in the idea of creating a bilateral working group on cooperation in the field of cybersecurity,» said the Russian Minister.

Russia has repeatedly denied accusations of trying to influence the elections in different countries, as the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov called them «completely unfounded».
