The Boeing P-8A Poseidon of the U.S. Navy on 6 November carried out a reconnaissance flight in the area of the Strait of Kerch and the Crimean Peninsula, reported by the monitoring portal PlaneRadar in his Twitter.
The plane with tail number 168764 was approaching the coastline of the Peninsula at a distance 24.61 kilometers. The P-8A Poseidon is part of the tenth patrol squadron (VP-10 «Red Lancers») of the U.S. Navy.
Earlier in the day, based on data from PlaneRadar, a reconnaissance flight in the region carried out the us strategic reconnaissance drone RQ-4A Global Hawk, which has monitored the demarcation line in the Donbass.
Recently, the activity of foreign intelligence and drone aircraft near Russian borders has increased. In particular, they were noticed as in the area of the Crimea and the Krasnodar territory, and near the Western borders of the country.
The defense Ministry has repeatedly urged Washington to abandon such operations, however, the Pentagon is refused.
Boeing P-8 Poseidon anti-submarine patrol aircraft, developed under the program of multi-purpose Maritime aircraft to replace the Lockheed P-3 Orion.
The aircraft is designed for the detection and destruction of submarines of the opponent in areas of patrol, reconnaissance, anti-ship and participation in rescue operations in coastal areas and in the oceans.
