The toponymic Commission has rejected a proposal to rename a subway station under construction on Vasilievsky island in St. Petersburg «Mining Institute» in «Area of Anatoly Sobchak», reported on his page on Facebook the Deputy of the Petersburg Parliament Alexey Tsivilev.

In December 2013 at the meeting of the toponymic Commission of the city it was decided to name a new subway station under construction on Vasilievsky island, «Mining Institute». In the summer of 2018 Senator Lyudmila Narusova asked to Georgy Poltavchenko with a request to rename the station, calling it «the Square of Anatoly Sobchak».

«Building a subway station on Vasilievsky island will retain the name «Mountain Institute.» A proposal to rename the station in «Area Anatoly Sobchak» toponymic Commission rejected,» wrote Tsivilev.

He also added that at the Frunze-Primorskaya line will appear on metro station «the Shuvalovsky prospectus». The planned station «Tourist» will be «Heroic».
