The General staff of the armed forces prevents the pastoral work of the chaplains of up, said in the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

«Last month the leadership of the military unit A-0222 separate regiment of the President of Ukraine gave the Church of Archangel Michael, restored community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Kyiv Patriarchate. This decision was made contrary to the law, without the consent of the military», — is reported on the website of the UOC.

Deputy Chairman of the Department of the UOC for relations with the armed forces and other military formations, the rector, Archimandrite Luke (Wynarczyk) believes that this situation is a consequence of government policy of discrimination against the faithful and priests of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

According to him, in the spring, all commanders received a Directive of the General staff marked «for official use only,» which prohibits the put chaplain of the UOC in the military.

The request to argue the Church was transferred the command of the direct answer has not given. However, according to Archimandrite, he learned from reliable sources that the reason was the above-mentioned Directive.

«Our priests, who are listed, ordered not to allow to the personnel. The canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church has repeatedly reported on the harassment of priests and seizures of churches and representatives of other religious structures. So, for 2014-2016, the UOC lost 40 temples.

Because of the decision of Constantinople to begin providing non-canonical autocephaly churches in Ukraine, which the Russian Orthodox Church is called the schism, the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on 15 October announced the severance of communication with the Patriarchate of Constantinople on the canonical territory of the Moscow Patriarchate.

Metropolitan Hilarion said that Constantinople lost its right to be called the coordinating centre of Orthodoxy.
