A court in St. Petersburg on Friday placed under house arrest of the former Chairman of the legal Committee of the city, Julius Osipov suspected of fraudulent theft of more than 14.6 million rubles, reports the United press service of the city courts (OPS).

The resignation Osipova a month ago became the first personnel decision after appointment to the post of acting Governor of the city Alexander Belov. In a press-service of the Smolny then reported that Osipova has left at own will.

«Kuibyshev district court of St.-Petersburg made a decision about election of a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest against Yulia Osipova, is suspected of committing a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the criminal code (fraud in especially large size), for a period of 1 month 15 days, until 22 December 2018», — stated in the message.

According to investigators, Osipova, holding successively the post of Deputy Chairman of the legal Committee of administration of St.-Petersburg and the Chairman of the Committee from April 2015 to may 2017, together with accomplices has stolen by swindle the funds of St. Petersburg budget, the Manager of which is administration of the Governor of St. Petersburg, in an amount not less than 14.6 million rubles.

According to OPS, the state institution «Centre of legal support» entered into contracts for the provision of comprehensive legal services with the company «of akkanto». In fact, neither this organization, nor attracted by his sub-contractors of the services were not provided.

Questioned as a suspect Osipova pleaded not guilty, the report said.
