The rector of the Moscow theological Academy Archbishop Vereysky Ambrose (Yermakov) banned entry to Ukraine for a period of three years, the press service of the Ukrainian state border service.

«The seventh of November, Archbishop Ambrose not only not been pass through the border, he was denied entry to the territory of Ukraine for the period of three years. So at least until 2021 to get to Ukraine, he can not» — said on the website of the border Agency. The reason for the ban not specified in the message.

In addition, the border guards denied reports by some media which claimed that the Bishop later allegedly flew to the Ukraine on another flight.

The Archbishop of verey Ambrose had intended to participate in the divine services on the occasion of Day of memory of St Nestor the Chronicler in the annual act of the Kiev theological Academy. But at the checkpoint and airport «Zhulyany» he was detained and after the interview was refused entry.

The Archbishop said in his Тelegram channel, that the paper issued by border guards, stated «frankly contrived reason»: that he could not confirm the purpose of stay on the territory of Ukraine, although he had an invitation from the rector of the Kiev theological Academy.

Later it became known that the rector of MDA appeared in the database of the infamous website «the Peacemaker.» There he is listed as «the enemy of independence of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church controlled by the Russian Orthodox Church».

This week, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine is nothing to do, and its representatives have to go back «home to Russia». Such words are increasingly heard in Kiev after the Patriarchate of Constantinople has announced that it will start the procedure of granting autocephaly of the non-canonical Church structure in Ukraine and cancels the act of 1686 on the transfer of the Kyiv Metropolitanate to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate.

The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church has called these actions by the division and stopped Eucharistic communion with Constantinople on the canonical territory, including Ukraine and Belarus. The same decision was made and the Russian Church abroad.
