Believers of Ukraine has repeatedly appealed to Patriarch Bartholomew with a request to legalize the heads of non-canonical Church structures Filaret, Macarius, and their followers, however, all appeals went unheeded, said the Council of bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

«With sorrow we state that hundreds of thousands of cases of believers of our Church to Patriarch Bartholomew I with an appeal not to legitimize schism under the pretext of creating autocephaly remained without attention», — reads the statement of the Cathedral.

In addition, the Council of bishops stressed that the interference of Constantinople in their business is illegal, as «attempts of solving the Ukrainian ecclesiastical question, involving both the public authorities and dissenters, ignoring the voice» canonical UOC.

The Patriarchate of Constantinople decided to proceed with the granting of autocephaly churches in Ukraine, and to immediately restore the stavropegic (office, directly subordinate to the Patriarch of Constantinople) in Kiev. Constantinople also decided to cancel the anathema and all prohibitions imposed by the Orthodox Church at the head of the self-proclaimed «Kiev Patriarchate» Filaret, and restore it, and also the leader of another non — canonical structure-the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC) Macarius and their followers in the Church rights and dignity, and their flock — «to restore to communion with the Church.» Thus, Constantinople was first recognized as legitimate schismatic Church structures in Ukraine. In addition, the Patriarchate of Constantinople has actually said about their rights in Ukraine, withdrawing legal obligations historical writing in 1686 on the transfer to the Moscow Patriarch the right to appoint the Metropolitan of Kiev, who was elected Cathedral of his diocese.

Because of the decision of Constantinople to begin providing non-canonical autocephaly churches in Ukraine, which the Russian Orthodox Church is called the schism, the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on 15 October announced the severance of communication with the Patriarchate of Constantinople on the canonical territory of the ROC, including Ukraine and Belarus. The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church has called canonically void, and saw politics in the abolition of Constantinople by the act of 1686 on the transfer of the Kyiv Metropolitanate to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate. Metropolitan Hilarion said that Constantinople lost its right to be called the coordinating centre of Orthodoxy. In the Russian Orthodox Church hope that Constantinople will change the decision to give the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church, and before that he will be in the division.Bartholomew did not hear the request of the Ukrainian believers, noted the UOC Council© RIA Novosti, Integratiebeleid in fotobanka in the Orthodox world: to be or not to be
