UN Secretary-General antónio Guterres urged all parties to the conflict in the Gaza strip to show restraint, reads the statement of the press office of the head of the world organization.

Earlier, the press service of the Israeli army announced that the military had detected about 300 launches of rockets from the Gaza strip and intercepted «dozens» of them. It was also reported that the Israeli land and air attack dozens of different targets across the enclave, responding to massive rocket attacks by Palestinian militants.

«The Secretary General urges all parties to exercise maximum restraint», — said the press office.

It is also noted that he was «closely monitoring the latest developments in the field of security in Gaza».

According to the world organization, «the special coordinator of the United Nations Nikolay Mladenov works closely with Egypt and all relevant parties in order to restore calm».

At the same time, the permanent representative of Israel to the UN Danny Danon had previously appealed to the security Council of the world organization urging them to condemn the missile tests, and also noted in his letter that «after a day of rocket attacks, there is no other definition of Hamas, except for the definition of a terrorist organization».Guterres urged all parties to the conflict in the Gaza strip to be restrained© RIA Novosti, Infographiste-Israeli conflict
