The President of Russia Vladimir Putin in Singapore took part in the ceremony of laying the first stone in the Foundation of Russian cultural centre.

Putin arrived in the tent on the street Rangoon road, behind him there came a colleague from Singapore halimah Yacob. The ceremony was made by the Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and senior Minister of state in the Ministry of culture of Singapore for community and youth Anne SIM. Following these statements, Putin and Jacob went to the podium and lifted the cloth that covered the Foundation stone.

Before the ceremony the Deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo Mikhail Bryukhanov told reporters that under the cultural center leased 33 thousand square meters of land, it is planned to build premises with an area of 4.6 thousand square meters. «The fifth part will be devoted to the spiritual goal,» he said.

According to Bryukhanov, building project yet, maybe it will be a competition. He said that the cost of the project Russia will carry itself, but most likely it will be implemented under public-private partnership. To build a building, said Bryukhanov, is a local company.

«The local stone, very beautiful,» he said about the attribute of the ceremony.

Lavrov at the ceremony noted that the construction of the Russian cultural complex will give impetus to expanding humanitarian ties. «The construction on the Singapore land of the Russian cultural temple complex will give an impetus to the expansion of cultural ties between our peoples», — said the Minister.

«We appreciate the constructive role of Singapore in the development of relations between Russia and ASEAN. It is symbolic that under the presidency of Singapore tomorrow is approved the Declaration, which proclaims strategic partnership between Russia and the Association of South-East Asia», — said Lavrov.
