Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on criminal liability for fictitious registration of a stateless person upon place of stay in the Russian Federation in residential and non-residential premises, the relevant document published Monday on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The bill was introduced in the state Duma in October of last year, the Vice-speaker of the lower house, Irina Yarovaya, adopted by the state Duma on October 25 and approved by the Federation Council on 7 November.

It is assumed that the fictitious registration of foreign citizen or the person without citizenship at the place of stay in Russia will be punished by a fine from 100 to 500 thousand rubles or the salary or other income of a convict for three years, or by deprivation of liberty for a term up to three years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to three years.
