The President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte missed a number of scheduled meetings held at the Singapore summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to take a NAP and recuperate, according to the portal Rappler, citing a representative of the head of state of El Salvador Panelo.

As the portal, in total Duterte missed five events scheduled for Wednesday.

«He (several times — ed.) took a NAP to compensate for sleep,» said Panelo. According to him, Duterte worked late on Tuesday and was able to sleep only three hours before the meetings.

According to the portal, on Thursday, the Philippine President took part in the morning event of the summit. In the course of communication with journalists, he said that it was not satisfied with how he managed to sleep, but noted that this allowed him to cope with the load.

«What’s wrong with my decision to take a NAP?» said Duterte.

As noted by Rappler, on Thursday, the 73-year-old Duterte took part in six events, including a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.
